Kaspian
KASPIAN civic association was established on 31 December 2007, however, the beginnings of work with children and young people dates back to 1997. KASPIAN carries out its activities through low-threshold programs and training, and it also provides space for students and volunteers.
KASPIAN’s mission is to fulfil the needs of children and young people, who would otherwise spend most of their free time on the streets of Petržalka. It aims to assist them in enhancing the quality of their life by employing social work methods.
Direct Work
Workers and volunteers contact children and young people, find out their current needs and help them to deal with their problems and understand their feelings. The first contact is made through establishing conversation and the offer of free-time activities. The most significant principle is that children and young people are not forced to perform or participate in any activities in the program. We use our best efforts to make our services as accessible as possible. Therefore we work in their natural environment and most of our services are free of charge. We consider all information provided by the participant as confidential and ensure that they remain anonymous if so wished. Our activities have strong participative character.
We run two low-threshold programs:
1. club social work
2. terrain social work
Training
We offer training for university students of social work studies, people working with children and young people (e.g. in low-threshold institutions, advisory service centres, free-time centres, schools and alike) and other people interested in such work.
Training activities offered:
· visits,
· presentations,
· lectures,
· internship.
Praxis and Volunteering
In addition to direct work and training KASPIAN has long-term relationships with several universities, in particular with their departments of humanities and social studies. We offer students praxis and volunteering in the club or terrain.
